Welcome to the Playoff Thread for the games in the week of 4/27. Last week went pretty much as expected apart from the Battle of Pennsyvania. The Pens looked unexpectedly old and slow. Yet the oldest guy was responsible for a large chunk of their anemic scoring. (Wait – Letang isn’t older than Geno – right?). Its been fun watching playoff hockey and playing spot the Ex-Predator on most of the teams. Enjoy the week!
Just a reminder – we’re always looking for new people to chat with an...
A’s 2, Rangers 1
Outside that pair of series against the Athletics and Rays, this Yankees team has been pretty adept at quickly brushing off losses. That’s something they’ll look to do in the backend of this road trip after missing out on a sweep opportunity against the Houston Astros. After Luis Gil’s increasingly disappointing efforts on Sunday—ultimately leading […]
The record-setting 2026 NFL Draft is behind us (as is the Blue-White Game), and we are well and truly off into this year’s off-season. There’s playoff hockey and basketball, as well as golf and baseball to fill our time over the next 4 months, but as always, we want football! So let’s look ahead to […]

After a tightly played Game 3, where the Bruins could point to missed opportunities as the difference between a win and a loss, fans hoped to see a little more jump on offense and a little more finish in Game 4. Instead, the Bruins turned in one of the more calamitous defensive performances in recent […]

That's Wild
Leave it to heartbeat of the Minnesota Wild Marcus Foligno to come up big when it mattered. Down by one goal in the third period, the grinding winger scored the equalizing goal which then forced the overtime in which Matt Boldy scored his game-winner, for the Wild to take Game 4...
Good morning Gang Green Nation! The New York Jets completed their 2026 draft on Saturday, picking up four probable starters in edge David Bailey, tight end Kenyon Sadiq, wide receiver Omar Cooper and cornerback D’Angelo Ponds in the first two days. They then added some depth pieces on day three. With free agency largely behind […]

You think your team had a bad year. Are you positive? You should be, because it’s time for our annual exercise in positivity. While half the league enjoys the playoffs, we’re going to look at the other half. For each team that missed the postseason, we’ll come up with three reasons to think positively. It goes without saying that this is easier for some teams that for others. So we’ll do this countdown style, starting with the easiest team to feel good about and working our way down to the tou...
The NHL playoffs grind on.
I miss Colin Greening.
The NHL playoffs are just over a week old and two teams are already gone. In both cases, the conference winners knocked off the last seed/second wild card team, with Carolina sweeping the Ottawa Senators and the Colorado Avalanche sweeping the Los Angeles Kings. Neither of those two are surprising, so thankfully the other series […]

Josh Doan, Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs and Bowen Byram each had a goal and an assist, and former Florida Panthers keeper Alex Lyon made 23 saves in the Buffalo Sabres 6-1 rout of the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. The Atlantic Division-winners opened up a 3-1 lead in the series and will go for the knockout blow on Tuesday in Buffalo. The last time the Sabres won a playoff series was back in 2007.
Rocket Richard-winner Nathan MacKinnon potted two goals and added an assist, and the Colorado Avalan...

The Edmonton Oilers put themselves in a position where a controversial call could put them on the ropes, and that’s exactly what happened Sunday night. Despite holding 2-0 and 3-2 leads, they couldn’t find a way to quell an unrelenting Anaheim Ducks team in Game 4 of their first-round series. But in the end, a…
Following their 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens, the Tampa Bay Lightning were a little more relaxed in their post-game interviews. Coach Jon Cooper in particular was in a good mood, especially when talking about the penalties and his reactions.
Jon Cooper
On Max Crozier – “He has that in his game. That’s why Cro is in the league. Not necessarily all those hits, but he has that in the game. He’s a big-time gamer.”
On shuffling the lines – “We’re getting mass pro...
It’s now do-or-die time. On Sunday evening, the Edmonton Oilers were looking to tie up their series with the Anaheim Ducks. Unfortunately, the Ducks picked up the 4-3 overtime victory, taking a 3-1 stranglehold of the series. Let’s take a look at what went on in this one. The Oilers needed to come out the…
Sunderland, eh? There’s no other football club like it; an institution capable of making you feel ten feet tall before breaking your heart or a more exposed part of your anatomy, as American aerospace engineer Kelly Johnson once said — and often in very, very quick succession. If last Sunday’s unexpectedly bonkers 4-3 loss at […]
