With as good as the Rams offense and as bad as Bears defense has been this season, Sunday’s divisional round game could come down to the matchup between Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay against Chicago defensive coordinator Dennis Allen. Although he wasn’t directly involved in the play, will Allen remember the last time he faced […]

Another day, another discussion of Nico Hoerner trade rumors. I’m going to do this one a little differently than the last couple , because I want to make sure I’m getting the entire range of my thoughts on this subject out there. I have gone to great lengths for weeks to articulate why I believe the Cubs obviously have to listen on Hoerner, and also why the size of trade it would require is simply unlikely to happen. But I think I’ve still left a lot unsaid.
First, though, let me share th...
It’s done. The Chicago Cubs have signed third baseman Alex Bregman. Officially official, and he’s on the 40-man roster, which now stands at 39.
Bregman, 31, reportedly gets five years and $175 million, with deferrals that kick that annual rate down to about $30 million for luxury tax purposes. It is one of the largest deals in team history, however you “count” it, and means so very many things for the organization in the short-term and long-term.
Bregman will wear number 3 for the Cu...
All of us heard about the Cubs’ signing of Alex Bregman Saturday evening — right about the time the Bears were mounting their tremendous comeback win over the Packers. It was a great day for Chicago sports. This morning, the Cubs announced the signing of Bregman by press release. It contained the following information that […]

The Los Angeles Rams are set to play the Chicago Bears on Sunday in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs. While it should be a good matchup between two similarly skilled teams, it will also give the Rams an opportunity to right the wrongs of two of their losses this season. While the Rams […]

The Chicago Bulls just dropped a brutal one to the Houston Rockets last night — a game that was contested right down to the wire. Now they’re hopping on a plane back to Chicago to get ready for another matchup, this time against the Utah Jazz. I have absolutely no confidence in this being a “gimme,” but I do know one thing: it should be entertaining.
Let’s talk Bulls basketball.

To write that a whole lotta fans saw the Chicago Bears beat the Green Bay Packers in last Saturday’s Wild Card playoff game would be an understatement of grand proportion.
So, instead, I’ll frame it like this: A record-setting number of fans tuned in to watch Chicago’s football team vanquish their rivals from Green Bay. And that isn’t hyperbole, folks. Saturdays’ Bears-Packers playoff game on Amazon’s Prime Video service became the NFL’s most-streamed game — ever. So many people watched t...
No need to worry about whether or not the Edmonton Oilers can reach three consecutive wins. This time, the winning streak ended at one. After picking up a commanding 4-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday, the Oilers dropped the second leg of their back-to-back on Tuesday night against the Nashville Predators, falling 4-3…
Former Detroit Lions special teams captain Jalen Reeves-Maybin has been signed to the Chicago Bears’ active roster for the playoffs. The team announced some roster moves […]
a couple of role players, not typically mentioned in trade rumors, may actually get the Bulls a trade return
The Jazz miraculously put an end to their ridicule of a 55-point loss by squashing Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road. Now they’re headed to the Windy City of Chicago looking for a rare win in the United Center — an accomplishment they’ve only claimed once in the past four years. Now, […]
As you know, NBC and Peacock are taking over MLB’s Sunday Night Baseball franchise starting in 2026. That package will include three Cubs games. It also might include a Cubs icon as part of the broadcast crew, according to Andrew Marchand at The Athletic: Clayton Kershaw and Anthony Rizzo are also on NBC’s radar, according […]
Wild card weekend did not disappoint for the first three games as the Rams-Panthers, Packers-Bears, Bills-Jaguars, and 49ers-Eagles all delivered one score games coming down to the final possession. The divisional round is now set with the Bills-Broncos and 49ers-Seahawks playing on Saturday. On Sunday, the Texans-Patriots and Rams-Bears will play for their opportunity to […]
On Monday night in Philadelphia, Tampa Bay center Brayden Point suffered a right knee injury and needed help getting off the ice. The scene wasn’t great for Jon Cooper because… Point it not only one of the more important players on his Lightning roster, but he’s also supposed to play for Cooper with Canada’s Olympic team. Reports on Tuesday are that the injury is “not good.”

For the second straight year, the Detroit Tigers have struck out on one of their biggest free agent targets, third baseman Alex Bregman. Last year, the Tigers, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs were the three finalists for the former Houston Astros’ services, with the BoSox prevailing with a three-year, $120 million contract with opt-outs […]
The hot stove is beginning to sizzle again, and some notable moves took place that could shake up the free agent market. Third baseman Alex Bregman will play for his third team in as many year, as he agreed to a five-year, $175 million with the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. The move by Chicago all […]
25 Years Ago On January 14, 2001, the Blue Jays traded 37-year-old David Wells and Matt DeWitt to the White Sox for Mike Sirotka, Mike Williams, Kevin Beirne, and Brian Simmons. The only two that mattered were Wells and Sirotka. DeWitt and Williams were traded back for each other before the season started. The Jays […]

The Chicago Cubs have added outfielder Justin Dean to the 40-man roster, claiming him off of waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he just picked up a ring.
Although it has hardly been a concern that rose to the level of anything on the Major League roster, it’s been hard not to notice the extreme need in the outfield at Triple-A Iowa. Thanks to graduations and trades, the Cubs entered the offseason with just one minor league outfielder on the Iowa roster. That outfielder, Parker Ch...
