How Patrick Kane fared since leaving Chicago and what to expect with his return

Full disclosure: this article was started three days ago with the original headline being “The please don’t sign Kane article” that was typed as space-filler and for identification purposes. We can skip those discussions now, which would amount to crying over spilled milk. Instead, let’s explore this thought: what version of Kane did the Blackhawks sign on Thursday morning? No one visiting this site needs a summary of what Kane did during his first Chicago stint. But with his 38th bi...

What perception becomes reality?

It’s been hard to shake the notion that the opening 20 games or so of this approaching season are going to carry a heavier weight than just about any chunk of Blackhawks games from this decade. Probably not in terms of the overall success or failure of The Plan™ — a 20-game sample is too small to paint that big of a picture — but more about the perception of which of those two outcomes it’s moving towards. The Bowen Byram trade feels like the watershed moment here. Not that the rebui...

Good morning, SCH. A little background on these MBS posts: the original point behind them was a way to rig the system a bit and allow site managers to their quota of posts to satisfy the corporate overlords who formerly owned this space. Since we no longer have that ownership, the quotas don’t exist anymore, and we’re now entering the part of the calendar when daily MBS posts will be lucky to have an extra link or two to add. So, between now and roughly Labor Day, we’ll be posting one MBS...
