At long last, we have a bit of positive injury related news to report: after dealing with a couple of extended absences, both Spencer Gill and Alex Bump were able to get back to action with their respective teams last week, and are beginning ...
Playing in his debut Olympics, Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid has already set another record. Earning his 12th point of the tournament with an assist on Canada’s opening goal against Finland, McDavid now has the most points in a single Olympic tournament in the NHL era of the Games. Adding another assist on the game-winning…
Video footage shows Czechia's Radko Gudas, often a controversial NHL figure, using homophobic language minutes after hit on Crosby.

Bill Guerin has already staked his reputation on Vincent Trocheck once this season. Along with New York Rangers teammate J.T. Miller, Trocheck is one of the two Team USA players people point to and go, "Him?" Compared to multiple-time 40-goal-scorer Jason Robertson and up-and-coming superstar Cole C...
When last we saw the Texas Rangers they were failing to run it back for a second year in a row. Now, having shed a large percentage of the folks that won them a World Series — including the future Hall of Fame manager — new manager Skip Schumaker and the Rangers begin their quest […]
Head coach Jon Cooper reacts to Team Canada’s dramatic come-from-behind 3-2 win over Finland in the semifinal of the 2026 Winter Olympic hockey tournament. On Team Canada storming back to win in two straight games: There is belief. As I said the other day, there is a quiet calm amongst the group. I think they […]
The post Jon Cooper on the odds of Sidney Crosby playing in the Olympic final for Canada: “He has much more of a chance of playing in the gold medal game than he did today” appeare...
Milan, ITALY — Canada entered the men’s hockey semifinal against Finland at Milano Santagiulia Ice Arena without captain Sidney Crosby, sidelined by a lower-body injury from the quarterfinals, and it showed early. Through the first period, the star-studded lineup looked off-pace, trailing 2-0 after Finland capitalized on special teams with a power-play goal from Mikko […]
Last week was a tough pill to swallow. With league leaders Arsenal playing a double gameweek, I decided to go big and activated my Triple Captain chip on Arsenal defender Gabriel. In a frustrating turn of events, the Gunners failed to secure a win against either Brentford or Wolves, and the clean sheets I was […]
Team Canada is heading to the gold medal game. On Friday morning, Team Canada took down Finland 3-2 thanks to a comeback and a late-game winning power play goal. While their opponent is yet to be determined, pending the result of Friday afternoon’s game between Slovakia and the United States, Canada will be playing on…
Finland’s identity on the international hockey scene is solid team play no matter which tournament they’re playing, and early in the semifinal they were using that style to get the puck through the neutral zone and into the attacking end versus Canada. The Canadians had a couple of chances, but when the Finns got the first power play with just under 10 minutes played, shots were 7-3 for Finland as it was deploying the better tactics to begin.
Struggling to get the puck to the net, Sam Ben...
In 2025, I watched the Nike Hoop Summit. The game featured big names like A.J. Dybantsa, Cameron Boozer, Cayden Boozer, Koa Peat, Nate Ament, and Chris Cenac. But I tuned in to watch a future Illinois player. I wanted to see the international man of mystery, whom I knew would define the Illini season. The […]
No. 5 Penn State returns home for a key Big Ten series against Ohio State. The Nittany Lions are looking to snap an 0-3-1 skid that has effectively ended the team’s chances of winning the conference regular season title. Penn State swept the first series between these teams in Columbus on October 30 and 31. […]
One of the Edmonton Oilers’ needs before March 6th’s trade deadline is to add some bottom-six scoring. There are quite a few options, such as Boone Jenner, who we already profiled earlier this month. Another option for the Oilers is St. Louis Blues captain Brayden Schenn. In Daily Faceoff’s latest trade board, Schenn was listed…
Two of the Blackhawks most interesting prospects continued their strong play.
As the Flyers reconvene ahead of the return of their Olympic representatives, and the roster starts to prepare for the final 26 games of the year, some new faces joined the big club for practice, albeit briefly. Goaltender Carson Bjarnason, as well as defensemen Oliver Bonk and Hunter McDonald, were all called up from Lehigh Valley in order to fill in the gaps left behind by Dan Vladar, Rasmus Ristolainen, and Travis Sanheim, who all made the trip to Milano-Cortina.
Bjarnason came up on ...
Bill Guerin is starting to look like one of the best general managers in the NHL, and the Quinn Hughes blockbuster might end up being the move that cements that reputation. The price, the timing, and now Hughes' Olympic heroics against Sweden indicate Guerin understands risk and upside at an elite l...
The 2026 Men’s Olympic Hockey tournament concludes this weekend, which means the 2025-26 NHL season is getting closer to returning from its Olympic break. The Pittsburgh Penguins next game will be on Thursday, February, 26 against the New Jersey Devils. Overall, they have 26 regular season games remaining. So let’s talk about the four things […]
On Thursday, we looked at some players that are candidates for release from their current teams that could be good targets for the Carolina Panthers. Admittedly, the pickings were a little slim on the offensive side of the ball. However, there are some spicier options on the defensive end that are more likely to be […]
Now that the offseason is here, we’ve been updating you on former Jets players and how they fared elsewhere in 2025. Having looked at offensive and defensive players over the past few weeks, we’ll be concluding with a look at special teamers today. As ever, this list is intended to be exhaustive, but if we […]
With the 2025 Texas Rangers season having come to an end, we shall be, over the course of the offseason, taking a look at every player who appeared in a major league game for the Texas Rangers in 2025. Today we are looking at pitcher Jacob deGrom. Jacob deGrom made 30 starts for the Texas Rangers […]
Along with comedian, podcaster and new author John Cullen, we remember Rob Davison, who had one major moment against a marquee opponent in his very short stint on Long Island. Like a lot of defensive defensemen, Rob Davison was not a player most people would remember. His job was preventing goals, not scoring them, for […]
The Ottawa Senators have not had the season they had hoped and goaltending/team defense has not been up to par, but they aren't out of it just yet and could make a push. Bruce Garrioch said, "Staios wants to be a buyer. If the Senators get strong goaltending down the stretch, then there is little doubt that they can make a push. Selling off assets for draft picks doesn't make sense for this group." The 20 game injury to Brady Tkachuk didn't help the team, but they made it through and are six p...
The medal round is winding down, and we’re set for a busy day of semifinal action unfolding over in Milan. For the early crown, we’ll see Canada and Finland facing off in what we can call the Flyers bowl, which will see a pair of teammates from Philly in Travis Sanheim and Rasmus Ristolainen facing off for a chance to punch their ticket to the gold medal game. And then, later on, it’s the big on for the local crowd — the Americans will face off against the Slovaks in their push to join their c...
The U.S. women fulfilled their destiny, completing their running of the table and medal rounds, though this time they needed a late equalizer and overtime to get past Canada to win gold. It’s almost always an epic battle between those two, even when one is a clear favorite as the U.S. were this time around. […]
Sidney Crosby is officially out for Canada’s semifinal matchup against Finland today. Crosby reportedly tested out his leg in a closed practice this morning in Italy, but was unable to play on it. Despite that, most reports share some level of optimism that Crosby is hopeful to come back for Sunday’s gold medal game if […]
