Finland breezed to victory in the Bronze Medal Game at the Olympics on Saturday, with a 6-1 victory over Slovakia. But they did it without superstar Mikko Rantanen, who sat out the game with a lower-body injury.   Rantanen was hurt in third period of yesterday's game vs Canada. Will be re-evaluated when he returns to Dallas regarding severity & timeline of injury. EDIT: Apparently not concern this is season-ending...but exact severity TBD https://t.co/GxivYKkYqz — Elliotte Friedman (...

Rasmus Ristolainen might have played his way off of Flyers with Olympic performance

Before the Winter Olympics took place, Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen wasn’t thought to be an important piece of Team Finland’s hopes in terms of competing for a gold medal or even ending up in the medal round. The idea was that he’d have some time to play, look decent at best and hopefully avoid some freak injury and return to Philadelphia in one piece. That was the goal. Anything else would be considered gravy. Well, Flyers general manager Danny Briere might be smiling like the ca...

LOS ANGELES — Jayson Tatum appeared on the floor moments before Celtics practice on Saturday and addressed photos showing him seemingly taking part in team activities in San Francisco. He clarified that he didn’t take part in a practice, and rather participated in an optional workout with several Celtics teammates, including Luka Garza. Joe Mazzulla […]

Rangers 3, Cubs 2: Well, there were a lot of strikeouts

MESA, Arizona — Cubs pitchers struck out 14 Rangers hitters Saturday afternoon on another gorgeous day at Sloan Park. For whatever that’s worth. A few Cubs regulars and a bunch of minor leaguers couldn’t put together much offense, though, and so the Cubs lost their second straight Spring Training game, 3-2 to Texas. Matthew Boyd […]

The Rudy Gobert Flagrant Time Bomb

Rudy Gobert picked up another flagrant Friday night. Another suspension. Another entry in what’s quietly become one of the strangest subplots of this Timberwolves season: the Frenchman vs. The Whistle. This time it happened under the basket against Dallas. Gobert and Marvin Bagley III were wrestling for position like two heavyweight boxers in a phone […]

2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics Bronze Medal Game: Slovakia vs. Finland How to watch Start time: 2:40 PM EDT / 8:40 PM CET In Canada: ICI Télé (French) Streaming: CBC Gem Friday was a disappointing day for Finland at the Olympics. Thinking that was enough, th...

Craig Berube on his allegiances when Matthews competes against Canada for gold: “I’m torn a little bit… I’m cheering for our [captain], but I’m Canadian, too”

Three great Olympic medal game performances in Flyers history

As we head into the medal matchups in the final games of the Olympics, we’re taking some time to revisit some of the top performances by Flyers players in tournaments past. The research found great success linked Finland and Philadelphia at Olympic games, which bodes well for our defenseman, Rasmus Ristolainen, as he prepares to battle for bronze against Slovakia. But let’s get into the meat of this. Kimmo Timonen’s 2010 bronze medal: Finland versus Slovakia The 2010 Olympics in Vanc...

Ryan Tverberg’s two-point game is for naught, Toronto Marlies cough up another lead in Cleveland

“We put ourselves in good situations going into third periods, and we keep blowing those leads. A lot of that just comes down to being gutsy in your own zone, sticking to the system and not playing outside of it.” – Dakota Mermis “All I know is that our players aren’t comfortable playing with the […] The post Ryan Tverberg’s two-point game is for naught, Toronto Marlies cough up another lead in Cleveland appeared first on Maple Leafs Hotstove .
