It’s been quite the few days for the Chicago Bears. After an all-time thriller on Saturday night resulted in an improbable victory over the rival Packers, Ben Johnson’s team benefitted from another bizarre ending Sunday afternoon as the Pittsburgh Steelers managed to *narrowly* hold on for a victory over the Detroit Lions that clinched a […]
It appears two-time All-Star Bulls center Nikola Vucevic has recovered from a concerning recent dip in production.
Prior to this past week’s two surprising home-and-home wins against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Vucevic averaged just 11.6 points on a .387/.304/.600 slash line, plus 6.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 0.6 steals per. Chicago head coach Billy Donovan responded to his dismal output and disinterested defense with a quicker hook than usual; Vucevic wound up averaging a modest-for-him 27...
Somewhat lost in the weekend shuffle of posturing NFL divisional games, NCAA football playoff high drama, college basketball showcases, Premier League football clashes, and my kids each having the flu at the same time as my wife was the news that the Chicago White Sox and Cincinnati Reds are discussing a deal involving former All-Star […]
It’s a holiday week so you’d figure any deals made by teams, notably the Chicago Cubs, would be minor. And that’s what we have today: Christian Bethancourt is 34 and played in 24 games for the 2024 Cubs. In those games, covering 59 plate appearances, he batted .281/.305/.509 with three home runs and 15 RBI. […]
The Blackhawks will be without the two young centerpieces of their rebuild for the next while, but they might be getting their captain back off injured reserve in time for their last game before Christmas.
Nick Foligno was a full participant in practice on Monday and looks to be back in the lineup when the Blackhawks host the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night. Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill was not at practice on Monday , but assistant coach Mike Vellucci said they’ll determine if...
Although the Chicago Cubs got exceptional support from Reese McGuire this season as the veteran third catcher who’d come in on a minor league deal, it’s possible he’s going to be able to parlay that into a true back-up catching job this offseason.
In the meantime, the Cubs decided to go ahead and grab this offseason’s obligatory veteran third catcher on a minor league deal, and it’s an old friend: Christian Bethancourt.
Christian Bethancourt agrees to Cubs deal. $1.6M if in majors. &...
Jahdae Walker’s first NFL regular-season touchdown was an all-timer.
Uncovered in the end zone because of a busted coverage, Walker’s fourth-down reception provided the equalizing score in a wild Bears-Packers game that helped bring new life to an old rivalry. I just can’t get enough of this moment:
OH MY JAHDAE 🤯🤯🤯 📺: FOX pic.twitter.com/LY0ur1XQUH — Chicago Bears (@ChicagoBears) December 21, 2025
If you were wondering if the Jahdae Walker catch was a stroke of luck or th...
So, I guess this one is more like a 35-hour rule, but that’s ok. After the Bears win over the Packers on Saturday night, I wanted to take a little extra time to unpack everything and let the NFL Sunday play out how it was going to.
Now that it has, thanks to heroics from Caleb Williams and company, the Chicago Bears are officially going to the playoffs ! Let’s react to Saturday’s big win.

With the Bears having already handled business on Saturday, I started watching “Severance” at the suggestion of a new friend. The early returns have me intrigued, even if I realized quickly that it might not be the best show for me to watch on an eerily quiet night in the neighborhood because of its mind-bending plot. Anyway, I’m always open to new show suggestions. Bonus points if they’re funny and I can watch as background noise.
Let’s start this BN Bears Bullets with a celebration me...
Once again, we are on holiday autopilot, which means that barring the unexpected, it should be a very quiet week. Although, Munnetaka Murakami signed with the Chicago White Sox on a prove-it, two-year, $34 million deal on Sunday. This essay consists of a bunch of card-and-ball-related stubs that would be too short to merit their […]
Coming into Week 16, the Chicago Bears had an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot with a win on Saturday night and a Detroit Lions’ loss on Sunday afternoon. For the first time in five seasons, Bears fans finally got to entertain playoff-clinching scenarios. Of course, their playoff future, at least in the moment, relied […]
With the Cubs having added some players to the 40-man roster (which now stands at 34) since our first payroll look this offseason, I thought it was time for another article updating things as they stand as we head into the holiday weeks, where not much action is likely to happen. Before we get to […]
The Chicago Bulls are streaking again, but this time, it’s the good kind! I’ve started to come around to the idea that the best defense really is a good offense. Watching the Bulls beat the Atlanta Hawks without playing an ounce of defense — a 152–150 final! What!?! — only reinforces that feeling. There’s a lot to hate and a lot more to love about it all. But one thing stands out above the rest: Matas Buzelis breaking out right in front of our very eyes.
Let’s talk Bulls basketball.

The Blackhawks were off yesterday, things are bad here, and the Blackhawks don’t play again until tomorrow. So I want to start our Monday with some respect for an all-time great making history on Sunday. Sidney Crosby had two points on Sunday. The second, an assist on a power-play goal by Rickard Rakell at 12:40 of the first period, gave him 1,724 points (645 goals, 1,079 assists).
That’s one point more than Mario Lemieux, and now the most points in Pittsburgh Penguins history.

Meet the Mets Much like this past trade deadline, Luis Robert Jr. is said to be on the market and the New York Mets are among the interested parties when it comes to a deal with the White Sox. Around the National League East For a season filled with failures and disappointments, Drake Baldwin and […]
Thanks to the Steelers beating the Lions, the Bears have CLINCHED a playoff spot for the first time in five years. I want that top seed, though … I’m greedy …
So, after all that silence, Munetaka Murakami winds up getting just two years and $34 million total from the Chicago White Sox. Oof. The writing was really on the wall about the size of the contract when the puff piece about Murakami maybe-being-the-next-Kyle-Schwarber came out. That was a tell that the previously-projected seven-...
The Cardiac Bears do it again! Like many other games this season, the Chicago Bears 22-16 comeback win over the Green Bay Packers took years off all our lives, but wow. What a game! It will easily go down as one of the best regular season games in general and one of the best Bears-Packers […]
There are still some things to sort out over the final two weeks of the season, but two things are for sure when it comes to the NFC North: The Minnesota Vikings will be watching the playoffs from home, and they’ll be watching at least one of their rivals in the postseason — the Chicago Bears. Chicago’s victory over Green Bay, paired with Detroit’s loss to Pittsburgh, allowed the Bears to become the first team in the division to clinch a playoff berth.
While the Packers and Lions are math...

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, Bleed Cubbie Blue is pleased to present a Cubs-centric look at baseball’s colorful past. The Atlanta Hawks suffered their third loss in a high-scoring contest against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday afternoon, 152-150. Four players scored 20 or more points for the Hawks, led by Jalen Johnson’s 36 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. Trae Young added 35 points and nine assists. For the Bulls, nine players scored in […]

MLB.com | Mark Feinsand: By now you’ve likely heard that NPB superstar Munetaka Murakami signed a two-year, $34 million deal with the White Sox yesterday. It was somewhat of a surprise both in terms of the deal size and the team, although no real rumors had swirled around Murakami in his entire posting process. I […]
The (11-4) Chicago Bears get a cold-weather respite for their next game, but they have to fly out west to do so. On Sunday night, December 28, the Bears will be at Levi’s Stadium to take on the (10-4) San Francisco 49ers. The early weather look-ahead calls for a high of 51 and a low […]
Do you believe in miracles? The Detroit Lions need one for the rest of the season. Entering Week 16, the Lions needed the Green Bay Packers to defeat the Chicago Bears to increase their chances of making the playoffs. The Packers failed their mission, knocking the Lions’ playoff chances down a bit. That meant the […]
