2026 NHL Draft Watch List: NHL Central Scouting’s First Round Grades

On Monday, NHL Central Scouting released their preliminary watch list for the 2026 NHL Draft. They rate players as an A, B, C, W or LV, with an “A” grade meaning they’re labeling the player as a first-round prospect for the 2026 NHL Draft. A “B” is a second- or third-round grade, “C” is the fifth or sixth round, “W” is a sixth- or seventh-round grade and “LV” is for limited viewing (usually because of injury). A couple of the NHL draft writers I cite frequently shared their thoughts ...

Packers Film Room: A huge 4th down conversion in Arizona

Matt LaFleur has come under fire in the last couple of years for some of his decision-making on 4th down. The Shanahan tree guys had always been more conservative on 4th down than I would have thought (given how forward-thinking they are about offensive football), but LaFleur seemed to buck that trend early on, only […]

2025 Phillies player review: Weston Wilson

The actual season that Weston Wilson played is totally fine: bland, average, fungible. He’s a bench player and no more. There is honor in that as teams are always looking for bench bats that can produce. His path was marred by injury, but his actual place on the roster brings up some questions about how […]

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly: Week 8

Week eight featured the most anticipated game of the year as Boise State hosted UNLV. Could the Rebels get over the hump? Or would the Broncos make it known they are still the kings of the conference? There was also a key game in Logan that was essentially an elimination game for the Mountain West […]

More On Last Night’s Game: Bullpen Choices

We have five days to talk about last night’s game (and I won’t get tired of doing that). The Mariners had their own bullpen usage controversy. Seventh inning. Bryan Woo has given up a walk and a single. With the addition (I spelled that addison at first) of a bunt, the Jays had the tying […]

Liverpool Team News at Eintracht Frankfurt: Gravenberch, Endo, Alisson

Sunday saw Liverpool lose a home match to arch-rivals Manchester United, for the first time since 2016. Then the Reds saw injury added to insult, in the form of midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. The Dutch midfielder suffered an ankle problem that is minor enough to not really be a huge, long-term concern. Or at least that […] The post Liverpool Team News at Eintracht Frankfurt: Gravenberch, Endo, Alisson appeared first on The Sports Bank .

CardTalk: Know Your Players w/o a Program

Some of you may be too young to get my attempt at humor in the header. Back in the day, when you walked into a game, they would sell programs. Lots of adverts, maybe some articles, roster listings, sometime with photos, and the players jersey numbers. A classic hawker’s call would be, “Can’t tell the […]

After starting his […]

BTB Tuesday Discussion: Do you believe the defense turned a corner?

The Dallas Cowboys defense did their part on Sunday against Washington. It was awesome. Through the first six games of the season the defense was mostly a punchline, and in the viewpoint of just about every person, was the reason that the Cowboys did not have a better record. Unfortunately this was not hyperbole. Prior […]
