Unsurprisingly, there is little Jays’ news today. The team signed Josh Winchowski to a two-year minor league contract. Winchowski is recovering from ‘internal brace surgery’. He’ll likely be able to pitch towards the end of this season, but then he should be good to go the second year. He’s a right-handed, 27-year-old pitcher who has […]
Progress isn’t always linear, especially when the athlete in question isn’t old enough to buy a drink. At BYU, Egor Demin was a 6’9” walking mismatch who overwhelmed opponents with his unusual combination of size and coordination as a ball-handler. After all, he was the tallest guard measured at the NBA Combine since the league […]
So long and good riddance to that Berlanga fight, apparently. Fernando Sabatini reports that the WBA has officially elevated former interim super middleweight champion Jose Armando Resendiz to replace the departing Terence Crawford, ordering “Toro” to take on mandatory challenger Bektemir Melikuziev in the process. Resendiz (16-2, 11 KO), a longtime middleweight whose best prior […]
The Miami Dolphins made a roster move to open 2026, signing quarterback Cam Miller, according to his agent. Miller had been on the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad, but will now move to the Dolphins’ 53-man roster. No corresponding move has been announced, creating the space for Miller. Miami will likely place an injured player […]
Merry New Year! Here’s hoping 2026 welcomes each of you with a smile and it brings you health and happiness. The Hurricanes certainly are hoping to get the year off to a great start as they host Les Habitants from Montreal. Considering 2026 ending with one of the most listless performances of the season, it’s […]
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Star Illinois kicker David Olano has officially announced on social media that he will be entering the transfer portal with one year of eligibility. Olano, a former three-star recruit out of high school, has blossomed into one of the better kickers in the country during his three years with the Illini. The […]
I’m going to say something that I’ve said multiple times this season, even after some pushback: I’ve been watching Louisville football for as long as I can remember, and Isaac Brown is the most naturally talented running back I’ve ever seen don the red and black. Bilal Powell was tremendous, Michael Bush was a freak, […]
We’ve closed the chapter of 2025 and have now kicked off a brand new year. As 2026 begins, Northwestern Athletics will have a big 365 days ahead of it, one which will consist of two stadium grand openings, a Final Four hosting opportunity, a major coaching hire to make and high-stakes seasons across several programs. […]
The Miami Heat are back at it for a New Year’s Day matchup against the number one team in the Eastern Conference. They will take on Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, Duncan Robinson and the Detroit Pistons. Cunningham is one of the East’s top players this season with averages of 26.5 points, 9.7 assists and 6.2 […]

No way to sugarcoat it, folks: The Cotton Bowl was a disastrous collapse for an Ohio State team that spent most of this season looking untouchable. For me personally, the taste of victory has been replaced by the taste of my foot in my mouth after days of talking about how Miami wouldn’t make it […]
Both teams think they've turned a corner on a bad season.

Arians has regularly appeared on The Pat McAfee Show for the 2025-26 NFL season, providing his insight and knowledge of […]
Luke Raley’s alma mater is Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. Founded in 1856 as a female seminary, the school initially aimed to educate the gentler sex in the domestic arts and etiquette, but gradually became a cradle of the suffragist movement, hosting speakers like Jane Addams and Susan B. Anthony and educating the women’s […]
San Jose Sharks fans have been pleasantly surprised by the arrival of Igor Chernyshov, who has not looked out of place in his seven games with the NHL squad so far. Head Coach Ryan Warsofsky was blunt when asked if the 20-year-old belonged in the NHL recently, answering with a simple “Yes.” But whether he sticks around after everyone gets healthy is another question. Sharks fans may need to be prepared for some frustration: this Sharks roster is built for the Future is Teal mantra, not the fut...
The #4 Texas Tech Red Raiders (12-1) face the #5 Oregon Ducks (12-1) in the CFP quarterfinals. The winner moves on to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in the CFP semifinals on January 9th. This should be a great kickoff for the CFP quarterfinals this New Year’s Day! 2026 Capital One Orange Bowl #5 Oregon Ducks […]
First of all, Happy New Year! 2026 is the year for Aggie Football, I can feel it. Or at the very least, it will be a year. But more importantly, the transfer portal officially opens on Friday, Jan. 2, which means it’s high time we take a look at the departures from the current A&M […]
The Carolina Panthers were in a lot of conversations through the month of December about the playoffs. At one time they were wild-card contenders, at others they had myriad chances to clinch their division. At this point, we all know how those conversations went and where the Panthers stand today. The long story short is […]

The entire saga surrounding former hockey player Ben Johnson seems to have come to its predictable conclusion today after the ECHL's Allen Americans released him from the contract he signed yesterday. Thanks to the intense swell of public backlash, the Americans seem to have reconsidered their statements on "second chances" for Johnson who is a convicted rapist that spent time in jail in Canada for his crimes as he's one again a free agent. I have taken great care on this blog to explain why s...

If you had Ohio State tabbed as your College Football Playoff winner please accept my sympathies. One thing we’re learning here in the new, expanded playoff era is that when you have to run a gauntlet of some of the best teams in America you can take nothing for granted. Today brings three more contests […]
There’s some damned good football being played today. Unfortunately, it doesn’t involve Nebraska. Perhaps you’d rather be done with college football for the season, but Oregon vs Texas Tech, Alabama vs Indiana, and maybe even Georgia vs Ole Miss should be exciting and interesting games. Women’s Basketball Nebraska Cornhuskers (20/25) at Iowa Hawkeyes (14/14)Thursday, Jan. […]
Morning, all! Tyler Mahle, who originally joined the Rangers while recovering from Tommy John surgery prior to the 2024 season, has signed with the Giants. Over at Yahoo Sports they have three New Year’s resolutions for the Texas Rangers. And that’s all I’m finding this morning.
The Rangers announce more roster moves as injuries continue to impact their disappointing season.
Hopefully everyone out there has the day off. Feel free to use this as an open thread to discuss goals for the new year, the college football playoff, food, or anything else that comes to mind.
