Giardi: For AJ Brown, there's no time to look back on what was with the Eagles in town
It was not hard to take Brown’s words about his new quarterback and contrast that with how he grew to feel about his old passer, Jalen Hurts, especially with the Philadelphia media getting their first crack at talking to Brown since the trade.
Haggerty: Could the B's continue to wait on naming a captain?
Could the Boston Bruins actually go another full NHL regular season without formally naming a captain?
Bedard: Patriots Practice Report 08.19.26 - Maye, offense win their battle while defense dominates struggling Eagles pass game
As opposed to the Eagles' offense (more on that in a minute), the defense is fully entrenched in Vic Fangio's scheme, and fully healthy outside of top pass rusher Jonathan Greenard (PUP), and I thought the Patriots' offense got the better of the Philly defense in the course of this practice.
Bedard: Patriots' 1-on-1 totals this point - Campbell soaring, Lomu hit and miss; Eagles notes
The big headline to me was Will Campbell. I knew he had been really good in this camp — no matter what one-rep videos you see on social media (nobody's perfect) — but I didn't realize he was this good. Campbell is 12-1-1 so far in this camp. About this time last year, he was 3-6-1.

It took a few games, but Adley Rutschman is beginning to look like the impact trade-deadline addition the Red Sox expected.Rutschman drove in three runs and launched his first home run in a Red Sox uniform Tuesday night as Boston overcame an early blown lead and pulled away for a 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks at Fenway Park.

BSJ Live Q&A: Haggerty on Bruins offseason, looming rookie camp - 11 a.m. Thursday 08.20.26
Haggs is here to answer all of your questions about the end of the B's summer offseason, the start of rookie camp in just a couple of weeks and any unfinished business that the Black and Gold intend to take care of between now and then.
Giardi: Patriots hoping Gilliam is a real difference maker, even if the ball won't be in his hands often (or at all)
How does Reggie Gilliam know when the running game is going well?
Giardi: Ponder trying to prove he's not just a one-dimensional player; Patriots add guard help
Ponder’s practice on Monday was one of the better ones he’s had this summer.
Red Sox snap out of offensive funk with 11-run outburst against Diamondbacks
Boston opened its six-game homestand by pounding out 16 hits, including seven doubles and two home runs, in an 11-1 rout of the Diamondbacks at Fenway Park. The Red Sox didn’t strike out once, and all nine starters drove in a run. It marked just the fourth time since 2000 that every starter in Boston’s lineup recorded an RBI and just the fourth time they’ve accomplished the feat at Fenway Park since 1950.
Final: Red Sox 11, Diamondbacks 1 - All nine starters record RBI's in Red Sox win
The Boston Red Sox win the first game of their series against the Arizona Diamondback 11-1
Bedard: Patriots Practice Report 08.17.26 - Good day for Drake Maye, offense as Christian Barmore returns
Maye and the first-team offense avoided their normal slow start and looked precise from the get-go in this practice, which featured sessions of first downs, second and third downs, and a two-minute drill.
Giardi: Should the Patriots be concerned about their ground game? Plus, confidence in Pop paying dividends
Had McDaniels loved where they were, he would have said so. But there was also no panic. He has seen too much, over too many years, to start deciding the offense can do this but can’t do that.
Red Sox limp home after rain-soaked loss to Pirates caps another series defeat
A lengthy rain delay only prolonged what had already become a miserable Sunday afternoon for the Red Sox.Patrick Sandoval was knocked around early, the offense remained stuck in its recent funk and Boston sat through a delay of more than two and a half hours before the Pirates finished off an 8-3 win at PNC Park.

Patriots held a closed walkthrough today (they'll have another on Tuesday after a padded session Monday), so it's another good time to check in on where the roster stands.
NHL Notebook: Turnover continues in the Bruins system
The Bruins farm system has been slowly turning over in a big way the last couple of years, and this summer has been one of those seminal periods with a great deal of change coming for next season and beyond.
MLB Notebook: Roman Anthony nearing Red Sox return; Joshua Baez makes history
As the Red Sox try to right the ship following a rough stretch in which they’ve gone 4-6 after running through baseball for more than a month, some much-needed offensive help is getting closer.Roman Anthony, Trevor Story and Isiah Kiner-Falefa are all set to begin rehab assignments over the next several days, giving the Red Sox additional options as they head toward the stretch run.
NBA Notebook: Mitchell Robinson's rebounding, Kevin Garnett's jersey, and Russell Westbrook's retirement
Possessions matter. For the Boston Celtics, they matter a lot. They are the foundation of everything the Celtics want to accomplish. At least, that was the case last season.
Red Sox ride Sonny Gray’s gem, Wilyer Abreu homer to 4-0 win
The Red Sox haven’t been scoring much lately, but Sonny Gray made sure they didn’t need to Saturday night.Gray delivered seven shutout innings and Wilyer Abreu supplied the only run Boston needed with another home run as the Red Sox blanked the Pirates, 4-0, at PNC Park.

Giardi: Two receivers with totally different characteristics but both getting better results
Romeo Doubs has been a fixture with the first-team dating back to the spring, but the times when he looked like the player we saw on tape in Green Bay were few and far between. That is, until last week.

Red Sox fall behind early and never recover in 8-4 loss to Pirates
Boston fell behind by four runs through four innings and never fully recovered in an 8-4 loss at PNC Park, continuing a difficult road trip and an offensive funk that has followed the Red Sox since their nine-game winning streak came to an end.
Bedard's Breakdown: Patriots' top two rookies, Lomu and Jacas, struggle in debut
Let's just say the Patriots' top two draft picks, tackle Caleb Lomu and edge Gabe Jacas, didn't light the world on fire in their preseason debuts against the Colts. But it was far from a disaster for both of them, as you'll see in the film analysis below.
