Is Ilya Mikheyev the Most Valuable Defensive Wing in the NHL?

On Sunday night, the Blackhawks lost a game to the Los Angeles Kings. Early in the third period, forward Ilya Mikheyev put his speed on display while killing a penalty. He was in the process of creating a potential scoring chance — skating 1-on-3, I might add — when he got tripped. Mikheyev went into the boards hard behind the LA net and left the game. He did not return. Ilya Mikheyev has not taken a shift since sliding into the boards hard here: pic.twitter.com/W4xX1L5UKC — BHF (@B...

Last week, our Rangers Reacts question asked which Texas Rangers pitcher hitting the free agent market you’d most like to see the team bring back. In a close vote, trade deadline addition Merrill Kelly was the top choice, narrowly edging out fellow starter Tyler Mahle and reliever Shawn Armstrong. Phil Maton, Patrick Corbin and Hoby […]

It’s Time For Jonas Siegenthaler To Step Up

The New Jersey Devils have suffered a pretty rough stretch of injuries to begin the 2025-26 season. It started on opening night, with Evgenii Dadonov fracturing his hand in Carolina. From there, we’ve seen Jacob Markstrom, Zack MacEwen, and Cody Glass go down with significant injuries of their own. And none of this counts Johnny […]

Quick bites: Sharks beat Wild in overtime, finish road trip .500

It’s hard to say if the San Jose Sharks as a team have figured out how to win close games, but there’s one player on the Sharks who has definitely figured it out – Macklin Celebrini. It’s because of Celebrini that the Sharks beat the Minnesota Wild 6-5 in overtime last night and finished the four-game road trip with a .500 record. The 19-year-old forward put together another multi-point game, saving his most important point for the very end of the night. Celebrini sprinted onto the ice af...

The Ask For Rangers' Prospect Othmann Revealed

The New York Rangers are likely going to trade Brennan Othmann this year. He is a 22-year-old former first-round pick by the Rangers with just 26 games of NHL experience. He also didn't make the team out of training camp and has only been alright in the AHL. But the Rangers just called him up and slotted him into the third line after one assist in four games for the Hartford Wolf Pack. That move seems like much more of a showcase rather than a deserving call-up, as interest has risen for the R...

Carolina Hurricanes Will Be Big Game Hunting This Season

The Carolina Hurricanes are in a very unique spot that teams are rarely in. They are a true Stanley Cup contender, but have a lot of cap space to work with and make at least one big addition this season. The team has made a run at a high-end player each of the past two seasons and acquired one: first Jake Guentzel and then Mikko Rantanen last season. In the offseason, the Hurricanes went after Nikolaj Ehlers and landed him, but they still have over $8 million in cap space to utilize this seaso...
