Report: One Major Obstacle Standing In The Way of a Kadri Return to Colorado

It seems like a natural fit, doesn't it? With Calgary Flames center Nazem Kadri now firmly out there and gettable on the trade market, many people have a reunion back with the Colorado Avalanche on their bingo cards.  But according to insider Elliotte Friedman, speaking on the NHL on TNT , he sees a major obstacle in the way of that happening. And that 'obstacle' is called Cale Makar. The game's best defenseman has only one year remaining on his deal with the Avs, and he's eligible ...

Colorado Rockies ownership, change, and hope

It’s a long-standing feature of this article to point out previous iterations of this article. When I wrote my first one eight years ago (holy crap, I’m getting old), the Rockies were trending in the right direction, and the ownership got precious little credit for it. So I wrote a string of articles focused on […]

Walk It Off: Avalanche 3, Blackhawks 1

Despite grabbing the early lead and keeping the Colorado Avalanche at bay for most of the first 40 minutes — well, Spencer Knight did, anyway — the Chicago Blackhawks couldn’t hold on forever, falling 3-1 on Saturday night in Denver. The Blackhawks struck first at 6:31 of the first period as Connor Bedard corralled Tyler Bertuzzi’s centering feed and snapped a heavy wrist shot for a power-play goal and a 1-0 lead.
