On September 8, 2024, Tom Brady stepped into the Cleveland FOX booth for his broadcasting debut, only to be hit with an immediate reality check. When studio host Curt Menefee greeted him as “TB,” Pittsburgh Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw instantly barked back, “I’m the original TB, Curt.” That quick exchange perfectly sums up Bradshaw’s stance […]

Last night, with the series opener, the Colorado Rockies soundly defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in a 14-5 onslaught. In Game 2, the Rockies hit some bad luck and (again) couldn’t seem to get the offense working (again). Add to that a seventh inning that put the Rockies on the back foot. They ended up […]
Cole Caufield’s second period goal broke a 1-1 tie and Jakub Dobes stopped 36 saves as Tampa Bay’s eight-game point streak comes to an end in a 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Jake Guentzel had the Lightning’s lone goal while Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 19 shots, including several big saves early in the third period when the game was 2-1.
Nikita Kucherov was held off of the scoreboard (and had two penalties) in his return to action after missing two games with an illness. Scott Sabouri...
The Carolina Hurricanes reached the 100-point mark once again with a 5-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Tuesday night. Columbus entered as the more desperate team, as they push for a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but Nikolaj Ehlers and the Carolina power play proved to be too much. […]
Notre Dame superstar, Hannah Hidalgo, is second to no one. Although the Irish were ultimately bounced out of the tournament by the UConn Huskies in an Elite Eight matchup, Hidalgo was masterful — which she was in every game for Notre Dame during its postseason. A lot was made of the snub by the AP […]
Andre Pallante pitched 5 strong innings and received offensive support from Ivan Herrera, JJ Wetherholt and Ramón Urías as the St. Louis Cardinals shutout the New York Mets 3-0 at Busch Stadium Tuesday night. It’s hard to overstate how good Andre Pallante looked as his pitches were down with great movement as he only allowed […]
It has been a long time since we’ve seen a start from Shane McClanahan. Since August 2, 2023, in fact. But the former All-Star has dealt with bad hand after bad hand in terms of injury, and his path back to the majors hasn’t been an easy one. Tonight, all eyes were on the mound […]
With the Duke Blue Devils bowing out against UConn in a disastrous final 10 possession, the ACC did not have a team in the Final 4 for the first time since 2021. It wasn’t a total washout of a NCAA tournament, but it wasn’t good either. The ACC was in fact an improved league getting … Continue reading »
The Montreal Canadiens have some big-time prospects on the way. And two of those top three, David Reinbacher and Adam Engström are quite likely to be lining up on the blueline for the big club next season. With seven d-men already on the active roster, plus those two, that's three too many. Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette says in his latest mailbag that two Montreal defenders are likely in their last days & weeks with the Habs. I wouldn’t be surprised if (Jayden)...
First period
This is an encouraging start from Montreal. They’re quickly moving the puck with support to get out of the defensive zone, and have gotten out to a 3-0 shot advantage in the opening couple of minutes.
Jayden Struble loses body position and reaches out to give himself a boost to correct that. The referee is 20 feet away to see it and call the holding penalty.
Tampa Bay uses the power play to take the lead in shots, but the game remains 0-0. That’s the type of urgen...

The Athletics continued their interleague series with the Braves today at Truist Park in Atlanta. Making his first official start of the season for the A’s was 30-year-old righty Aaron Civale. He was 4-9 with a 4.85 ERA last season for three MLB ball clubs. Civale matched up against 28-year-old lefty José Suarez for the […]

Iowa State (21-13) snapped a three-game losing streak on Tuesday by defeating in-state rival UNI 10-2 in a five-inning run-rule victory. Although the Panthers took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning following an RBI groundout by Kate Lappe and a single from Sykora Smith, the Cyclones quickly responded. In the bottom of the […]

The Orioles were forced to turn to their bullpen early Tuesday night, which ended in disaster as the Rangers scored seven runs against the pen to down the O’s 8-5. After starter Zach Eflin left with two outs in the 4th, the Orioles’ pen began a rollercoaster ride that had way more downs than ups. […]
Igor Shesterkin stole the show in what became an instant classic as the Rangers beat the Devils 4-1
Looking for another series win, the Braves had Jose Suarez on the mound facing the A’s and Aaron Civale. Things started nicely for Atlanta and for Suarez, as Jose struck out two of the 3 A’s he faced in the first. Drake Baldwin continued his torrid hitting to start the season with a first inning […]
Pregame The Penguins welcome Evgeni Malkin back from a four-game absence with a hand injury, but they have a scratch so late it doesn’t make the lineup card. Bryan Rust does NOT play tonight after taking warmup, his lower body injury keeps him out so Avery Hayes is in the game in place with the […]
Wilds cards Bianca Andreescu and Paula Badosa both won their first round matches today at the Credit One Charleston Open. Their stories, of course, are somewhat different, but both women have experienced serious injuries that have kept them off the tour and robbed them of their rankings . Andrew Painter’s Phillies debut may have come a few years later than originally anticipated, but he made sure it was worth the wait. The 22-year-old right hander tallied 8 strikeouts through 5.1 innings while being charged with one run on four hits and a walk. Painter flashed an impressive arsenal of pitches and poise beyond […]

The Nationals showed all of the heart and desire, but just did not do enough offensively to get over the line in Philly. While the Nats lost 3-2 tonight, they played well and hung in there despite not having a great offensive performance. It went right down to the wire with James Wood’s line drive […]
