Bedard: Patriots Practice Report 07.28.26 - Boutte stars again, Campbell showing improvement, Jacas' draft medicals

Kayshon Boutte had the play of the day for the third straight real practice, a deep touchdown down the right side of the field from Drake Maye over Kevin Byard. Boutte had another touchdown, but it was whistled dead mid-play by Mike Vrabel. Boutte caught four passes today.

NHL Notes: Eyssimont a forgotten man for the Bruins

The Bruins are still a good five weeks away from training camp and roughly two months away from the start of the NHL regular season, so there is still ample time for a lot of different things to happen. But it feels like there are most definitely some forgotten players mixed between the returning incumbents, the young players expected to make a move to the NHL this season and a Bruins team that clearly needs to upgrade in a number of areas coming off a playoff season.

Dylan Cease dominated from the first pitch to the last, tossing a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts as the Blue Jays rolled to a 6-0 victory over the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Toronto gave its ace all the run support he would need with a five-run third inning against Sonny Gray, handing Boston its most lopsided loss in nearly a month.

Simone: LeBron James signing with the 76ers will be a disaster

After an overdramatic, long-winded summer, LeBron James finally made his free-agency decision: A two-year, $8 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. He'll join Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and VJ Edgecombe in the City of Brotherly Love, creating one of the most stacked starting lineups in recent memory

Red Sox Notes: Franklin Arias promoted to Triple-A; Zach Neto, Shea Langeliers headline trade rumors

The Red Sox are promoting their No. 1 prospect, Franklin Arias, to Triple-A Worcester, according to Worcester Telegram & Gazette’s Tommy Cassell. The 20-year-old shortstop earns the promotion after slashing .318/.407/.587 with 19 home runs, 90 hits, 50 runs scored, 52 RBI, 37 walks and just 46 strikeouts in 75 games for Double-A Portland. He also represented the organization in last week’s MLB All-Star Futures Game.

Bedard: Areas of concern and confidence with Patriots' new additions heading into camp

It seems like everyone, including myself, believes that the major additions — A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs, Dre'Mont Jones, Kevin Byard and Alijah Vera-Tucker — are surefire upgrades for the Patriots. The odds of that are more probable than not, considering they are all good professionals, and the Patriots' coaching staff showed a great ability last season at maximizing their talent relative to other coaching staffs. But let's make no mistake: none of these additions are surefire hits. There is a l...
