When the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs began, the Flyers were months beyond a rather good run in February and March. However, the pandemic put an end to many things, including the regular season. In August, the playoffs began, with a three-game round-robin leaving Philadelphia as the top seed in the Eastern Conference. The seeding meant the Flyers had a first-round bye, waiting for their opponent to emerge from a best-of-five series. Montreal defeated Toronto, and the Flyers opened the playoffs on...
For the first time in six years, the Philadelphia Flyers are back in the Stanley Cup playoffs and naturally, the hockey Gods have tasked them with the Pittsburgh Penguins as a first round matchup. With both teams entering the season as relative longshots to qualify for the postseason at all, their matchup represents a golden opportunity for either club to get one over on their Keystone State Rival.
At face value, this is a battle of underdogs. The Penguins assembled an island of misfit to...
A young power forward with swagger drafted early in the first round can be an amazing thing for an NHL team. And unlike Cutter Gauthier, this one actually was willing to sign a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers! Porter Martone joined up with the Flyers after his 2025-26 season at Michigan State wrapped up and […]
*Nothing left for us to do but wait for the first round to begin, eh friends? Just hanging out, thinking about how the hockey season isn’t over, waiting for the schedule release, things of that nature. We can also think about the difficult path to the playoffs that the Flyers gave themselves and then overcame. Because it rules. [ BSH ]
*We can also spend a little bit of time reflecting on Danny Briere’s tenure as GM thus far, and all of the very savvy moves that have brought the Flyers to...
The eighth chapter in the playoff history between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins is about to be written. The Flyers have won four of the first seven series, but also lost three of the last four. The last time the two teams met was in 2018, when the Penguins took out Philadelphia in six games. Gritty was still an idea among some in the Flyers organization, and Shayne Gostisbehere was the team’s most offensive defenseman. It’s been a long time
However, the rosters of bo...
You could describe the Philadelphia Flyers’ 2025-26 season with a list of different words, but none of them would be the word “perfect”.
After their January swoon where they lost 11 out of 13 games and looked dead in the water amongst a glut of playoff contenders in the Eastern Conference, without any real juice, or an attribute that separated them from the pack. They were unable to string together any lengthy win streaks, every game without Dan Vladar in between the pipes felt like a sch...
No member of the Philadelphia Flyers has won the Hart Trophy since Eric Lindros did for his 1994-95 season, but one player could at least get some recognition in the voting this season.
When the Flyers signed Dan Vladar to a two-year contract last summer, he was seen as a temporary solution to a long-term problem. A career backup before arriving in Philadelphia, the 28-year-old netminder has never really been given the chance to have the majority of the crease, whether it was in Calgary o...
Based on preseason expectations there might not be a more improbable first-round matchup in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs than the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers. Neither of these teams were expected to be here. Up until about three weeks ago, I am not sure the Flyers were expected to be here. But none of […]
The Philadelphia Flyers are in the playoffs — we cannot say it enough. This team that everyone counted out and assumed that they would’ve just finish somewhere out of the playoffs but not as terrible as the other teams to get some blue chip prospect out of it; defied those expectations and went on a dramatic, emotional, and thrilling run to eventually punching their ticket in the penultimate game of their season.
Now, it’s just the actual “playing in a series” thing that is left and it fe...
The Montreal Canadiens played their final regular season game on Tuesday night, paying a visit to the Philadelphia Flyers, who booked their ticket to the playoffs the night prior. It was a frustrating night for the Habs in general, as they ran into the best version of Samuel Ersson in net, and made some defensive mistakes that led to a 4-2 loss to wrap up their 82-game schedule.
This isn’t the end for the 2025-26 Montreal Canadiens, however, as their own ticket to the playoffs has been bo...
Philadelphia Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet had a rough ride at times this season. Without getting into the whole situation with one specific player than got far more attention than it deserved, Tocchet juggled a lot of things in his rookie year as Philadelphia’s coach and now that they’re in a playoff spot, he deserves some recognition.
Philadelphia entered the season with little to no expectations, unless those relegating them towards the bottom of the league, and certainly near the Met...
The Flyers ended a full-season six-year playoff drought and will play in the playoffs for the first time since 2018, where they lost to the Penguins in the first round. Simply getting back to the postseason is quite the accomplishment based on the past month when Philadelphia was sitting in sixth place in the division […]
With the Battle of Pennsylvania poised to resume in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade, what better time than now to take a trip down memory lane and revisit some of the highs and lows from when the Penguins and Flyers have squared off against one another in the […]
*The Flyers iced 2/3 of an AHL lineup last night and took it right to the Montreal Canadiens, who had reason to play hard for those two points. The kids are good, folks! We might have something brewing here! RECAP !
*Lineup was pretty fun last night though, huh? Nice to see some kids get a little time in the spotlight to close things out. [ BSH ]
*It was also Team Awards day yesterday, and most of the winners will come as no surprise to you, dear reader. [ BSH ]

Not many regulars? No problem. The Flyers bevy of rookies and young stars led by Matvei Michkov, Porter Martone and Oliver Bonk defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 on Tuesday night.
The basics

First period
AHL opponent or not, the top line comes out in playoff mode with a high-danger chance in the opening 10 seconds, and Cole Caufield draws a high-sticking call to head to the power play.
It’s a short first wave with the top line having the shift to start, but the second unit looks dangerous as well. There’s been little to complain about on the power play the past few games.
Matvei Michkov gets a breakaway, but Jakub Dobeš makes the leg save on his deke.

The 16 teams are set for the NHL playoffs. The Edmonton Oilers clinched their spot last week, and on Monday, the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers punched their ticket. Three first-round matchups have been confirmed, with the Dallas Stars taking on the Minnesota Wild, the Pittsburgh Penguins facing the Philadelphia Flyers, and…
The Philadelphia Flyers are going to the PLAYOFFS, but, there is still one game left to play. As the Montreal Canadiens come to town, the Flyers will be icing roughly half of a real lineup (projected) but the visitors actually have something to play for.

The Philadelphia Flyers handed out their year-end team awards on Tuesday prior to their season finale against Montreal. And while there were a few winners who previously walked away with some hardware, there were also a few newcomers who were lauded for their respective 2025-26 seasons.
Our MVP all season long: Dan Vladar. 😤 pic.twitter.com/1TLKdsXhdg — x – Philadelphia Flyers (@NHLFlyers) April 14, 2026

When Dan Vladar signed his two-year, $6.7 million contract with the Flyers last July 1, the idea was Philadelphia at least might have somebody who could compete with Sam Ersson for the starter’s role. At worst, he would be a far more capable backup for Ersson compared to what Ivan Fedotov and Aleksei Kolosov were in 2024-25. The bar was incredibly low. Vladar couldn’t hurt, right?
Well, 81 games later, and with a meaningless game (in the best way possible) to close out the season tonight ...
The Philadelphia Flyers have already clinched the playoffs in dramatic fashion with a shootout win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night. So, with their season finale happening just 24 hours later, they have decided to rest a lot of key players and bring up some prospects from the AHL for what is a meaningless game when it comes to standings and making the playoffs.
Since, you know, the Flyers are making the playoffs.
Flyers recall several prospects to give key players a rest ...
Last night marked a huge moment for the Flyers, as after a long and at times arduous regular season, they managed to overcome the bad bits, rallying from behind to a huge win over Carolina to punch their ticket to the postseason.
But despite the fact that the Flyers got a little bit of help heading into that matchup, with the Hurricanes resting a number of their top contributors, this game was far from an easy one. They managed to find some early jump in the first period, but weren’t able...
It seemed like another bad July 1st contract when the Philadelphia Flyers gave 27-year old goalie Dan Vladar a $6.7 million contract for two years ($3.35m AAV). Vladar had completely pedestrian career stats of a 49-34-16 record with a 3.00 GAA, .895 save percentage and four shutouts in 105 regular-season games split between five games with […]
After Dan Vladar stopped Alexander Nikishin to clinch the Philadelphia Flyers’ first playoff berth since 2019-20, the Xfinity Mobile Arena erupted in a way that may have seemed foreign if you were a fan that had started just watching the team over the last few years.
The usual mixture of discontent at shoddy power plays and pent-up nervous energy was replaced with a raucous crowd that lived and died with every single puck touch. In the biggest game of the year, the fanbase demonstrated w...
