Another day, another Tyler signed to a minor league.
Yesterday it was journeyman reclamation project Tyler Beede , while this one is more of a true prospect/development-project type:
The Cubs have signed RHP Tyler Ras to a minor league deal. Ras spent time in the Rockies and Astros organization since being drafted in the 14th round back in 2021. Originally a Cubs 33rd round pick in 2018, he is coming off a Pro Day with Tread. pic.twitter.com/GOkYc3AL51 — Greg Huss (@OutOfTheVin...
Immediately after the Cubs signed Alex Bregman to a five-year, $175M deal on Saturday night, the Nico Hoerner rumors resurfaced. Jeff Passan said it. Keith Law said it. Jon Morosi said it. Media outlets in New York started drumming up the Yankees’ interest. The Giants had been teased. And so on.
Whether we like it or not (we do not), we can’t keep denying the existence of Nico Hoerner trade rumors. And unfortunately, today, they’re getting a little louder, with a more specific note from a...
Wake up, Chicago, it’s game day!
Tonight the Chicago Bulls head to Texas to take on the Houston Rockets. This will be the first time these two teams face each other this season, so honestly, anything could happen (Houston are the favorites… cough cough). It’s also the first game of a back-to-back, so it would really help Chicago if the winner gets decided a little earlier than the final buzzer.
And there’s plenty more to talk about too, including LeBron James and the newly reschedule...
The Edmonton Oilers had no issue with the Connor Bedard-less Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night, cruising to a 4-1 victory to open their mini two-game road trip in the Central Division. After a dominant first few minutes for the visiting team, Zach Hyman opened the scoring with five minutes left to go in the opening…
Just last week, I took a “way too early” look at a possible Cubs Opening Day roster. Today, we stand 72 days from that (hopefully not too cold) Opening Day game Thursday, March 26 against the Nationals at Wrigley Field — and two significant changes have happened since then. So let’s take another look at […]
Micah Parsons was conspicuous in his absence from the Packers’ playoff loss to the Chicago Bears. But in the days after, he’s made his presence felt, just as he’s done in virtually every moment he’s been in Green Bay since the Packers made the aggressive move to pry him away from the Dallas Cowboys. Parsons, […]
The Oilers got back in the win column on Monday night with a 4-1 victory over the Blackhawks, shaking off Saturday’s frustrating loss to the Kings. That’s not to say that getting the win in Chicago was smooth sailing for 60 minutes, but it was the kind of response you want to see after letting…
There are a couple of things that we’ve been told about Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur’s current situation. We know that both ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said that going into the Packers’ playoff loss to the Chicago Bears, Green Bay wanted LaFleur back and LaFleur wanted to be in […]
The other day, I broke down the Green Bay Packers’ touchdown to Romeo Doubs against the Chicago Bears and the play that set it up. As you may recall, the Packers scored four touchdowns in this game, so we’re going to break down those other three. Because they’re fun and we can. TD 1: 3rd […]

Sources say the Cubs are stockpiling Quad-A type pitchers. Corbin Martin and Tyler Beede are reportedly in the organization now. Cub Tracks is happy to mea culpa after the big-boy signings last week. The position here was never that the Cubs were ‘cheap’ — indeed, it was that they didn’t want to win as badly […]
1922 Black Sox member Buck Weaver petitioned for reinstatement into baseball. The former White Sox third baseman was one of eight players banned for life due to his involvement in throwing the 1919 World Series to the Cincinnati Reds. Though Weaver was the most innocent of the Black Sox, he did attend at least two […]

First off: I’ll be at my brother’s wedding and spending time with family for the next week. In my absence, Xiane and Holly will be taking over the game previews for Houston’s next four games. Please be kind to them and engage in meaningful and respectful conversation in the comments. Things are bad for the […]
For weeks, baseball insiders have been saying that the free agent market has been slow moving. However it only takes one big move to potentially jump start things, and we may have gotten that in the Chicago Cubs signing free agent 3B Alex Bregman to a 5 year, $175M deal. Where does that take us? […]
Earlier this season, our friends at Breaking T revealed a few Chicago Bears-inspired shirts and hoodies. The Caleb Williams-to-Colston Loveland game-winner against the Bengals and a couple of Good Better Best variations. But their latest one might be the best yet. Fresh off the Bears’ Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers, you can […]
Earlier tonight, the NFL finally gave the times for the four Divisional round playoff games, and they gave the Chicago Bears the late slot on Sunday for their matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. The Bears and Rams have met twice in the postseason. The first was in 1950 in L.A., and the Rams won […]
The Rams traveled to Carolina to take on the NFC South-winning Panthers in the Wild Card Round, and after a 34-31 win, Los Angeles advances to the Divisional Round. The Rams were the third of three NFC West teams to land in the postseason this year, and for a stretch of the season, they looked […]
The Blackhawks couldn’t hang with the two-time defending Western Conference champions on Monday night at the United Center, losing 4-1 to the Edmonton Oilers.
Edmonton opened the scoring about 15 minutes into the first period when Evan Bouchard used Zach Hyman as a human backboard while tied up with Alex Vlasic in front of the Chicago goal, putting the Oilers up 1-0:

The Edmonton Oilers now have a point in their last four games. After a 4-3 shootout loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, the Oilers began a two-game road trip with their dads in tow, beginning their first matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday. It was a goaltender battle, but…
On January 12th in 2014, Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane fired a pass past pinching defenseman Duncan Keith, which traveling the length of the ice and into his own empty net during a delayed penalty to Devan Dubnyk, giving the Edmonton Oilers a 2-2 tying goal midway through the second period.
Patrick Kane's own goal was credited to Oilers forward Boyd Gordon.

Right when we were all excited for a Connor vs Connor matchup and seeing the Blackhawks at full strength with Bedard back in the lineup… it was Bedard who got sick and was not in the lineup. Spencer Knight was really good, and the skaters in front of him were also very active with their sticks. Unfortunately, it was a shot that hit a body that got Edmonton on the board first almost 15 minutes into the contest. Zach Hyman was credited with the goal.
Evan Bouchard banked a shot into the net...

We thought the Blackhawks were done with the whole being sick thing when everyone showed up looking good at the morning skate on Monday.
We are in fact not clear. And this one hurts.
Connor Bedard , who returned from his shoulder injury just two games ago and had two beautiful assists on Saturday night in Nashville, will not play against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night because he’s sick.
Head down to the comments to talk about Monday’s game against the Oilers!
