Making Sense of Paul George’s Brief Sixers Tenure After the Blockbuster Jaylen Brown Trade
The Philadelphia 76ers played some salary cap gymnastics to open up a max-contract slot to sign Paul George in 2024, hoping he would be the difference-maker in getting over the championship hump. This proved not to be the case. George’s tenure in Philadelphia was relatively underwhelming. After signing the four-year, $211.6 million contract, the nine-time […] The post Making Sense of Paul George’s Brief Sixers Tenure After the Blockbuster Jaylen Brown Trade appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Leo Carlsson Will Not Be a Philadelphia Flyer
The Ducks matched the offer sheet: Damn. Well, they said they would match any offer sheet on Carlsson, and they matched it. So Pat Verbeek stayed true to his word. Now he has the highest-paid player in NHL history. The contract is for $18 million AAV and it will certainly impact the effort to sign […] The post Leo Carlsson Will Not Be a Philadelphia Flyer appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Dave Matthews Band Shares Fan Advisory Ahead of 400 Millionth Show in Camden
Meantime: Dave is playing at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on Friday and Saturday. I believe is this the 47th year in a row that he has played back-to-back shows in Camden. Artificial intelligence says its 40 shows in Camden, but that feels low to me. I thought the number was closer to 400 million. There’s […] The post Dave Matthews Band Shares Fan Advisory Ahead of 400 Millionth Show in Camden appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Brought to Our Attention is a Website that Saves Sports Fans Money by Untangling them From Streaming Hell
Mid-July. Basketball’s been over for a month; free agency has been going for over a week. Baseball is in full swing. The All-Star break is quickly approaching. Crickets chirp all day. Cicadas sing their song into the night. The heat has become thicker. The humidity weighs on your shoulders. That feeling is coming back, slowly […] The post Brought to Our Attention is a Website that Saves Sports Fans Money by Untangling them From Streaming Hell appeared first on Crossing Broad .

Sharing a Ukee Washington Story on His 40-Year Eyewitness News Anniversary
Saw this on the timeline: What a run. 40 years! Incredible. The only thing is that the tweet should say “Eyewitness News” instead of “CBS News Philadelphia,” because the re-brand is appalling, no doubt the brain child of some useless corporate suit(s) in New York City. Crossing Broad staff has been instructed to only refer […] The post Sharing a Ukee Washington Story on His 40-Year Eyewitness News Anniversary appeared first on Crossing Broad .

After holding a fan vote for a new food to be featured at Citizens Bank Park during All-Star festivities, Aramark announced Wednesday that the results are in: Betsy’s Banana Ice Cream Sundae is the winner and will be available all week. Reds Radio Broadcaster Delivers Classic Lines Before and After Schwarbomb
The Phillies won the series opener in Cincinnati with the big play coming from the bat of Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber went into Tuesday’s contest not having a home run in his previous seven games. He snapped that streak in his second at-bat, a two-run bomb in the top of the third inning to give the […] The post Reds Radio Broadcaster Delivers Classic Lines Before and After Schwarbomb appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Quick Rant: It’s Annoying that Two-Year Vehicle Registration in Pennsylvania Doesn’t Come With a Discount
One thing that bothers me is when Penn DOT (the absolute worst)* sends you the letter for vehicle registration. This is what I get in the mail: My options are $116 for one year, or $232 for two years. The price is whatever for a small truck, no big deal, but there’s no discount for […] The post Quick Rant: It’s Annoying that Two-Year Vehicle Registration in Pennsylvania Doesn’t Come With a Discount appeared first on Crossing Broad .
The Mets are So Dreadful that Keith Hernandez Has Resorted to Talking About the End of His Bloodline on Live Television
This is… this is something else: To do a little bit a scene setting, this was a 9-9 ballgame in the top of the sixth. The Mets were at home, playing in front of a reported 32,734 people, which feels high. No way there were 30,000 people in the building. But the Mutts were up […] The post The Mets are So Dreadful that Keith Hernandez Has Resorted to Talking About the End of His Bloodline on Live Television appeared first on Crossing Broad .

42 Million People Watched the USMNT Get its Ass Kicked by Belgium
A few days removed from Belgium whooping the USMNT 4-1 and ending its World Cup dreams, there are still plenty of questions left to be answered: How the hell did that happen? Did USA choke the game away, or were they merely outclassed by a better team, or was it both? Will the United States […] The post 42 Million People Watched the USMNT Get its Ass Kicked by Belgium appeared first on Crossing Broad .
All Hail the Return of The Schmitter
Great news here: The Schmitter is hybrid cheesesteak of sorts. It’s got steak, onions, and cheese, but also includes salami and tomatoes and is served on a round Kaiser roll. It’s the creation of McNally’s Tavern in Chestnut Hill. For background, the sandwich was served at Citizens Bank Park between 2004 and 2016. Most of […] The post All Hail the Return of The Schmitter appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Jaylen Brown’s First Philadelphia Season Will Be the Turning Point in the NBA Analytics Movement
The Philadelphia 76ers made the biggest splash of the NBA offseason to this point, swapping out Paul George and some draft picks to bring in Celtics star Jaylen Brown. It’s a move that has been widely regarded as a steal for the Sixers, with the vast majority puzzled by Boston being willing to deal Brown […] The post Jaylen Brown’s First Philadelphia Season Will Be the Turning Point in the NBA Analytics Movement appeared first on Crossing Broad .
We Didn’t Lose to Belgium Because “Our Best Athletes Don’t Play Soccer”
One of the things you hear all the time is that America’s best athletes don’t play soccer. BUT WHAT IF THEY DID?! What if we had LeBron James and Aaron Judge out there against Belgium? Would we have won 4-0? It’s an interesting topic, if tiring. You have to start by defining “athlete.” It seems […] The post We Didn’t Lose to Belgium Because “Our Best Athletes Don’t Play Soccer” appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Criminal Charges Against Mike Missanelli Withdrawn
According to public court records, the simple assault and harassment charges filed three months ago against Mike Missanelli have been withdrawn. The case is now listed as “closed” – Missanelli was arrested on April 8th after allegedly hitting his fiancé, according to the police report. In the FOX 29 writeup, it’s said that “police talked […] The post Criminal Charges Against Mike Missanelli Withdrawn appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Devan Kaney Reveals New Job in Chicago
New gig: Kaney was let go by 94 WIP back in March, then announced in June that she’d be leaving her freelance sports job with FOX 29 for a new opportunity. That’ll be the FOX station in Chicago, so she’s moving up to television market #3 from television market #5. It’s a good gig, for […] The post Devan Kaney Reveals New Job in Chicago appeared first on Crossing Broad .
It’s Time to Talk About Moving Trea Turner to the Outfield
Trea Turner’s suspect defense has been no secret in Philly, and it was on full display once again in Monday’s brutal 15-1 loss to Kansas City: That’s a truly awful error. It’s a routine double play. Turn it and the Phillies are out of the inning with a one-run lead. Instead, it turns into six […] The post It’s Time to Talk About Moving Trea Turner to the Outfield appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Praise Be: “Philadelphia Stadium” Once Again Bears the Name of Our Corporate Financial Overlords
It’s the end of an era in South Philadelphia: View this post on Instagram A post shared by FOX 29 (@fox29philly) So what did you think about the “Philadelphia Stadium” epoch? As goofy and generic as the name sounded, wasn’t it nice to be free of our corporate sponsorship overlords, if just for a few […] The post Praise Be: “Philadelphia Stadium” Once Again Bears the Name of Our Corporate Financial Overlords appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Theory: A Deranged Hipster Transplant Posted This Phillies Message on a Minneapolis Utility Poll
Meantime, on Phillies Reddit: Found in Minneapolis by u/huphelmeyer in phillies Uhhhhhh…. yes. This appears to be an elaborate and humorous troll job. It’s so oddly specific and detailed that it straddles the “hilarious” and “total nutjob” line, which is a thin line. Or maybe it’s AI and we’re all being duped. In which case […] The post Theory: A Deranged Hipster Transplant Posted This Phillies Message on a Minneapolis Utility Poll appeared first on Crossing Broad .
All-Time Panderer Bryce Harper is Now Pandering to SEPTA
It’s well documented that Bryce Harper may be the greatest panderer to ever do it, and the man just took it to another level. His newest cleats are train-colored in an homage to SEPTA: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Under Armour Dugout (@uadugout) Just when you think Bryce can’t become any […] The post All-Time Panderer Bryce Harper is Now Pandering to SEPTA appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Random Philadelphia Phillie of the Day: Shawn Wooten
We asked the Sportradar AI to present us with a random Philadelphia Phillie for July 7th, 2026, and the name drawn from the figurative electronic hat was Shawn Wooten. I have never heard of this player before, so I got to Googling and learned that: Before Philly, Wooten was an Angel, and won the 2002 […] The post Random Philadelphia Phillie of the Day: Shawn Wooten appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Philly Native Kyle Lowry Retires After 20 NBA Seasons
After 20 NBA seasons, one championship, and two and a half forgettable years with the Sixers, Philadelphia native Kyle Lowry announced on Tuesday that he’s retiring via a nice but very long video: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kyle Lowry (@kyle_lowry7) Good for Lowry. He seems like a nice guy. Seems […] The post Philly Native Kyle Lowry Retires After 20 NBA Seasons appeared first on Crossing Broad .
Claude Giroux is Not Returning to Philadelphia, Reportedly
David Pagnotta reported last week that Claude Giroux was returning to Philadelphia as a free agent, which apparently is not true: G is 38 years old now. He’s played the last four seasons for his hometown Senators, 327 games, and put up about 50 points in each of the last two years, playing mostly as […] The post Claude Giroux is Not Returning to Philadelphia, Reportedly appeared first on Crossing Broad .
USA Was So Bad Against Belgium that “James Franklin” Started Trending on Twitter
That was a rough one. After a few weeks of incredibly good vibes and convincing wins over Paraguay, Australia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina, the USMNT’s World Cup dreams came to an abrupt end on Monday night in a demoralizing loss to Belgium. It was a brutal 94-minute gut punch for American viewers, and watching the game, I […] The post USA Was So Bad Against Belgium that “James Franklin” Started Trending on Twitter appeared first on Crossing Broad .
