Chicago White Sox Signing Anthony Kay to a Two-Year Deal

Another pitching signing, and the third returning-from-Asia pitcher signed in the last 24 hours. Cody Ponce , Ryan Weiss , and now Anthony Kay. Kay, briefly a Cub before he headed to Japan after the 2023 season, is signing a two-year deal with the Chicago White Sox: Kay’s deal pays him $5 million in 2026, $5 million in 2027 with a $2 million buyout on a $10 million mutual option for 2028, league sources said. — Will Sammon (@WillSammon) December 3, 2025 Kay, 30, posted an ...

Patriots QB Drake Maye named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

On the heels of the New England Patriots’ 10th consecutive win, Drake Maye has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time. The 23-year-old team captain got the call on Wednesday after completing 24-of-31 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Giants. To go with a 126.0 […]

2025 Athletics Season In Review: Justin Sterner

Good morning everyone! For today’s Season In Review we picked right-handed reliever Justin Sterner for the deep dive. It was a bit of a roller coaster season for the rookie, with lots of highs and a few lows in his first full season as a major leaguer. But overall not a terrible first year with […]

National Signing Day 2025: Mojo Williams is a Buff

Names matter, you know? Names confer meaning, and if you’re a little bit woo-woo, names influence the path of those that carry them. It just feels “right” that the workmanlike DE in the NFL was named Reggie White. It feels “right” that Peyton Manning is a 6’5 QB who slings it all over the yard. […]

Are the Cincinnati Reds Actually Going to Make a Sincere Run at Kyle Schwarber?

Each offseason, we see these kinds of stories percolate: a big-name free agent is available, his hometown team has a need in his area, and maybe they will have surprising interest. I don’t even think it’s merely cynical, as it’s probably pretty typical for free agents to at least want to feel out whether their hometown team will have interest. So there are probably dialogues most of the time, and since it serves the agent’s interest to let that info out, it gets out. I kinda figured that ...

Rockies hire Dodgers exec Josh Byrnes as general manager

The Colorado Rockies keep adding former Dodgers front office members for their own front office. The latest comes from the current group in Los Angeles, with Josh Byrnes heading to Colorado as general manager, per multiple reports. Ken Rosenthal, Dennis Lin, and Maria Torres as The Athletic were first to report Byrnes to the Rockies, […]

Grading the 2025 Mizzou season

Ready or not, it’s Finals Season on campus! The Tigers don’t have any more time to cram because the 2025 regular season has come to close and it’s now time to take a retrospective look at how the Tigers ultimately performed based on expectations entering the season. I’ve graded out all three major areas of […]

Yankees 2025 Roster Report Cards: Giancarlo Stanton

It’s an unfortunate and familiar story. Giancarlo Stanton misses a considerable amount of time with injury during the regular season. The frequency with which this has happened since the Yankees acquired him from the Marlins is distressing not only for the team, but for him. From the beginning of the 2019 season onward, Giancarlo has […]

Cubs trade target: Sandy Alcantara

You all know the story of Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara. He had several good seasons in Miami, including winning the Cy Young Award in 2022 at age 26. It looked like he was headed for a good-to-great career, until Tommy John surgery cost him the entire 2024 season. Returning in 2025, he had a typical […]

2025 Atlanta Braves Player Review: Tyler Kinley

The Atlanta Braves did not have a great time on the hill (or otherwise) in 2025, finishing 23rd in fWAR. A lot of that was injuries, a lot of that was an inflated HR/FB rate that took the staff, such as it was, from the league’s 12th-best xFIP- to a 22nd-best FIP-, and some of […]

Should the Royals re-sign Mike Yasztremski?

Once upon a time, professional baseball players were my age. Some still are. Some are older, even, although that number dwindles by the day. One such player is free agent outfielder Mike Yasztremski, whom the Kansas City Royals acquired from the San Francisco Giants in a midseason trade.  Yasztremski just wrapped up his age-34 campaign. […]

WBC approve voluntary title defense for Oleksandr Usyk vs Deontay Wilder

Following yesterday’s news that heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk was targeting an unexpected fight against Deontay Wilder going forward, the WBC has paved way for this to take place with the organization formally granting him permission to make a voluntary title defense against Wilder after bumping him up into their top 10 in the division. “Deontay […]

Hall of Fame Polls: Jeff Kent

I’m going to go through the players on the Contemporary Baseball Era Player ballot over the next couple of days, because they are voting on the weekend. Jeff Kent had his 10 tries on the regular ballot, his last one in 2023. He was on 46.5% of the Writers’ ballots, that time, the high point […]

Michael Wilson Fantasy Week 14: Projections vs. Rams, Points and Stats, Start or Sit

In Week 14 (Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET), wide receiver Michael Wilson and the Arizona Cardinals will face the Los Angeles Rams, who have the 14th-ranked pass defense in the NFL (207.3 yards allowed per game). Should Wilson be a player that you insert into your fantasy football lineup this week for his matchup against the Rams? Prior to making that call, here’s a glimpse at the stats and trends you need to know. Sign up for Fubo to watch the NFL, live sports and entertainment without cable! M...

Week 14 Patriots Power Rankings: Pats on fire!

No turkey hangover for these Patriots. New England quickly put the New York Giants in a tryptophan funk after the visitors came out flat and the Patriots defense kept them flat all game long. LB Christian Elliss was flying around hitting everything in sight, old-school style. Hard not to love the full-pop energy, especially after […]

According to reports, Josh Byrnes will be Rockies new GM

Update 2:00pm MT The Colorado Rockies have made it official ahead of the Winter Meetings, hiring Josh Byrnes as their new general manager. This rounds out the main trio of front office personnel, with the rest of the FO and coaching staff expected to take place over the next few weeks. This morning, Ken Rosenthal […]

2025 Dodgers season review: Brock Stewart

Six years after he left on waivers, Brock Stewart came back to the Dodgers at his year’s trade deadline, but the reliever’s return to the bullpen was cut short by a shoulder injury. Originally drafted by the Dodgers in the sixth round in 2014 out of Illinois State, Stewart pitched in parts of four seasons […]

Hey, Another Michael King-Cubs Discussion

Last week, Andy McCullough at The Athletic did one of those “if each MLB team could make one Black Friday move” things, and he landed on righty Michael King to the Cubs . Mark Feinsand has done the same kind of exercise at MLB.com , and what do you know, he landed on the same guy to the same team: “Cubs: Michael King, RHP Even with the return of Shota Imanaga via the qualifying offer, the Cubs are in the market for a frontline starter this offseason. King is one of the most talente...

Rockies hiring Josh Byrnes as g.m.

The Colorado Rockies are hiring Josh Byrnes, senior vice president of baseball operations for the Los Angeles Dodgers, as their general manager, per multiple reports. The Rockies hired Paul DePodesta as their president of baseball operations last month, so Byrnes will be the #2 guy with Colorado. Byrnes has been with the Dodgers since November […]

2025 Player Review: Jordan Romano

I appreciate the gamble. I appreciate seeing an asset that maybe was on the buy low side of things and thinking that maybe – just maybe – something could be done to get a player on the cheap(ish). However. 2025 stats 49 G, 42 2/3 IP, 8.23 ERA (5.39 FIP), 25.1 K%, 9.1 BB%, 2.11 […]

Affordable SP depth for a tender budgeted team

You know, as cranky as some of the fandom has become over the past few days as it becomes clear the Giants are using the press to either tamp down fan enthusiasm about free agency or short circuit Scott Boras’s efforts to use them (again) as a stalking horse, it’s still the case that the […]

Jordan Vann Signs With Louisville Football

JORDAN VANN – SAFETY 247 Composite – 3-Star OFFERS: Wisconsin, Purdue, Michigan State, UVA, Duke, Iowa, Kansas Highlights: Evaluation: Vann possesses something that I’d like to see all of UofL’s skill position players have—the ability to return kicks and punts. I’m not looking for them to do this for the Cards, but it shows a […]

Offseason Position Discussion : SS

It 2024 CJ Abrams flashed greatness, with a .295 7 homer April and hitting .373 / .464 / .663 in May earning him a trip to the All-Star Game and getting Nats fans excited about his potential. The only problem was... well... he might have been the worst fielding shortstop in baseball in years.  The plan for 2025 was to start him at SS and hopefully watch him solidify his position as an MLB offensive star while playing some better defense.  This didn't quite happen. His 2025 at the pla...
