Thursday Headlines: Travis Ford Keeping the Faith in UK Basketball

It has not been a good week for Kentucky Basketball. The Wildcats suffered a brutal loss to Michigan State in the Champions Classic Tuesday night, and morale around the program is not good after Kentucky fell to 3-2 with losses in their only two games against power conference opponents this season. The Wildcats have not […]

Notre Dame Men’s Basketball: Irish slip past Bellarmine, 86-79

On Wednesday night, the Notre Dame Men’s Basketball team improved to 3-1 on the season after an 86-79 win over Bellarmine. It wasn’t a pretty game at all for the Irish as they struggled shooting the ball for stretches, and struggled from the free throw line (again). Markus Burton led the Irish with 25 points […]

After falling in straight sets against No. 18 Indiana, Maryland volleyball returns home to face off against No. 20 Minnesota Friday. It will then travel north to take on Penn State Sunday. Islanders Gameday News: Romanov on IR, last mile in Detroit

The Islanders finish their long and surprisingly successful road trip tonight in Detroit, back in the Eastern time zone and oh so lose to returning home for a weekend of back-to-back afternoon games. A win tonight would put them in the non-wildcard proper playoff section of the Metro for the moment. Just half a year […]

The Daily Zona Mista: Thursday, Nov. 20

Hey, everybody! It’s Thursday! You know what that means? Well, it means two things: For one, we’re two days away from the weekend — and that’s always a good thing. Plus, we’re two days away from Juventus being officially back from the international break — which, you know, isn’t always a good thing these days. […]

Rick Pitino defends Mark Pope amid heavy criticism on UK head coach

Positivity can still be present amongst Big Blue Nation, even with how the last week has gone for the Kentucky Wildcats. Yes, the losses to Louisville and Michigan State aren’t good. But the season is only five games in. There are plenty of big games remaining in the regular season. Mark Pope has done a […]

Throwback Thursday: Notre Dame VS Syracuse, 2014

Since I’ve already thrown back to the first three Notre Dame victories over Syracuse — 1914, 1961, and 2005 — this week we’re fast-forwarding a full century from that very first matchup to a much more recent meeting. For this Throwback Thursday, we’re heading to 2014, when the No. 8 Irish took on the Orange […]

Mark Pope vows Kentucky “Won’t fail” after Michigan State loss

Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope didn’t hold back after the Wildcats’ disappointing loss to Michigan State, a defeat that dropped Kentucky to 3-2 and raised urgent questions about the program’s early-season trajectory. Instead of deflecting, Pope took full responsibility and delivered a bold promise. Speaking postgame, Pope acknowledged the team’s lack of identity and […]

“Things will turn. It’s not going to rain forever”

Last season, the Dallas Mavericks were among the NBA teams hit with the worst injury luck. There’s no need to list all the players, who were out for shorter or longer periods of time, but suffice it to say that it affected the season, the vibe and the results.  This season, Kyrie Irving remains out, […]

Kentucky Basketball hits early-season panic mode

Kentucky basketball is just five games into the season, but at 3–2 with two high-profile losses, the alarm bells are already blaring in Lexington. The Wildcats dropped last week’s rivalry showdown to Louisville 96–88, a game that saw Kentucky trail by 20 points in the second half before making the score look closer than the […]

8 Takeaways from Cavs 114-107 loss to Rockets: ‘What’s our strength?’

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Cavaliers’ slow start doomed them as they fell to the Houston Rockets 114-104. This was Cleveland’s sixth loss of the season. It took until Jan. 16 to pick up their sixth loss last season. What a difference a year makes. The Cavs haven’t had many measuring stick games this season. This […]

Patriots making sure not to underestimate Ja’Marr Chase-less Bengals

Whoever the Cincinnati Bengals starting quarterback is going to be this Sunday will have to operate without the team’s No. 1 wide receiver. Ja’Marr Chase has been suspended for a game after spitting on Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey in Week 11. Chase being out naturally changes the outlook for both the Bengals and their […]

The return is near for Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro! When it was initially reported in September that Herro was undergoing surgery, the timeline the team projected was “around eight weeks.” Well, we are now at that eight-week deadline, and Herro began practicing with the team on Sunday. His return his near, but how near? […] The post Could Tyler Herro be returning next week? appeared first on Hot Hot Hoops - Miami HEAT NBA Blog .

Thursday Morning Fly By: They’re back!

*After many several days, your boys are back on the ice tonight against those St. Louis Blues. Oh, how we’ve missed them. Looks like we might get some different looking lines tonight, so that’s fun. Or interesting. [ BSH ] *We’ll still be seeing Emil Andrae though, who seems to have impressed Rick Tocchet enough to actually stick around for a while. [ Inquirer ] *Not sure who will be starting in goal just yet but that doesn’t matter to the Flyers, they think both guys are equally goo...

Laval vs. Syracuse recap & highlights: Rocket can’t overcome discipline issues in home-ice loss

The Laval Rocket completed a solid swing through New England last Sunday, shutting out the Providence Bruins to reclaim first place in the AHL’s North Division. They returned to Place Bell for a three-game homestand against division rivals, starting with the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday night. The Crunch sat just two points back of the Rocket and were led by the duo of Dylan Duke and Jakob Pelletier, who both were playing at over a point-per-game pace. Pascal Vincent left his forward line...
