Latest news and updates about the Notre Dame
Welp… This sucks. First things first, be honest. You. Yes, you, as a Notre Dame fan. In your heart of hearts, you KNOW that Miami deserved a spot in the CFP ahead of the Irish. The resumes are similar enough that the head-to-head win rightfully carried the day. The double-standard of the 1993 national championship […]
So here we go, bowl season is upon us. We already have 3 teams opting out – Iowa State, Notre Dame, and Kansas State. I think we are nearing the end of the bowl format. They served their purpose for many years. They were fun, but I don’t see them staying with the current format … Continue reading »

Give a sport a Sunday selection process and there’s sure to be controversy. Leave all the arguments and chaos makers in their national pulpits with their Miami and Notre Dame commentaries and hot takes, because we have post season MACtion to discuss. And where there’s a game, there’s a line. And where there’s a line, […]

So… I just published the reasons why Notre Dame should make the decision to not accept any bowl invitation this year, and then I see they did IN FACT decide to opt out. They are 100% doing the right thing here. There is no need to help a system out that is hell bent on […]
Notre Dame fans are still a little shocked after today’s final college football playoff rankings that pushed the Irish back to #11 and OUT of the playoff. There is still plenty of time to slam the committee, scientologists, drug lords, and whoever else you want for this snubbing — but there is some business at […]
The college football playoff committee is the most corrupt body in all of sports (and with FIFA that’s saying something). As the playoff rankings were unveiled we saw no movement in the top 8, and then it got ridiculous. Notre Dame is OUT of the college football playoff. Alabama, who was just blown out by […]
Sebastian Mack’s night was already going poorly as he waited on Jacob Crews to set a high ball screen midway through the second half against Notre Dame. The UCLA transfer had clanked a pair of three-balls, and stepping in front of an errant Brady Koehler pass produced a fastbreak that saw his layup attempt swatted […]
For every argument you can make for Miami, Notre Dame, Alabama, and even BYU there is a previous result that should scare all 4 at large candidates and puts anything and everything on the table. What if a team won its conference championship game by double digits over a top 15 tm and was in … Continue reading »

The Miami vs. Notre Dame playoff debate has been the talk of the sports world this week, and while many have talked about it among the talking heads, one notable name who carries a ton of weight hasn’t weighed in on it yet. That is, until Saturday morning on College Gameday. Nick Saban and the […]
The college football regular season is over and done, and here comes the postseason. Obviously as an Independent, Notre Dame won’t be participating this weekend, but the impact from some of those games could be massive. There are multiple scenarios that have the Irish IN and OUT of the college football playoff due to certain […]
I wrote in the recap of the Missouri game that it was the most important game of Micah Shrewsberry’s tenure thus far at Notre Dame, and I stand by it. Yet, this one didn’t feel any less huge. By beating Missouri, Notre Dame earned the right to have tonight’s game mean something. A win would […]
This part of the ACC-Notre Dame stats series is focused on team-level stats. Offense Points Scored The Irish would’ve been ranked first in the ACC for points scored per game. The team averaged 42 points per game during the 2025-26 season. Pitt (8-4) was a ways off at #2 with 35.1 points scored per game. Stanford […]

One by one, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will add new members to its football family during the early signing period for the 2026 recruiting class. Rather than beat the site down with a profile piece after each of the recruits sent in their NLI, we simply offer this recruiting tracker for the day. OFD will offer […]
Without exaggeration, tonight’s contest against the Missouri Tigers represented the most important game of the Micah Shrewsberry era to-date. Expectations are for the program to be in the hunt for an NCAA tournament bid, and for that to be a realistic possibility, there needs to be a quality non-conference win to point to. Beating Houston […]
When I saw Miami at 12 in the latest CFP poll, initially, I thought that’s not good for Miami. Then Notre Dame dropped a spot to 10. Oddly enough, Alabama moved up a spot after barely surviving 5 win Auburn. Nevermind, they have a loss to one of the ACC’s worst teams, Florida State. That’s … Continue reading »

The penultimate set of College Football Playoff rankings were released and the committee decided to move Notre Dame down to #10 and Alabama up to #9. If you’ve been paying attention to me over the past few weeks — this is pretty much what I expected from the committee. They want Bama in the playoff […]
After a UCF win moved BYU to 11-1, BYU remained at 11 in the College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday ahead of conference championship weekend. BYU is one spot ahead of Miami and a spot behind 10-2 Notre Dame. BYU is one of five Big 12 teams ranked along with Texas Tech (4), Utah (15), […]
